You may think a spider for Christmas is unusual, but when I discovered the Christmas spider folklore I was so excited. At last an opportunity to turn the unpleasant myths about spiders that have spread across the UK on their head. This folklore inspired the Christmas decoration, card and gift wrap that you can find here at Curious Kin. If you have not come across the tale let me summarise it for you here – in German and Ukrainian folklore, there is a Christmas story of spiders who weave a tree-topping web that becomes gold and silver when sunlight strikes it, bringing joy and good fortune to a poor family.
