What’s not to love about octopus? The more we learn about them here at Curious Kin, the more we are fascinated and the Pacific warty octopus is no exception to this!
There has been some exciting discoveries about this species. Scientist Janet Voight* discovered that the deeper the Pacific warty octopus (Graneledone pacifica) lived the smaller they got and the ‘wartier’ their skin became.
When you dive down just 0.7 miles you’ll discover them at almost a meter long with smooth skin and as you travel down another mile to 1.7mile depth you’ll see the same species between 28-35cm long (approx) with very bumpy skin. The same species adapting to it’s environment.
So here’s my original illustration of this species printed on an men’s Reemill t-shirt. The same design can be found in adult sizes.
