Whales are split into 2 families: baleen (Mysticeti) and toothed (Odontoceti) whales. Baleen whales feed through baleen – long bristles that help them to filter fish from sea water after taking enormous gulps. Toothed whales will either grab their prey with their teeth or suck them directly into their mouth.
