We love this children’s picture book that takes you into the world of Julian’s imagination as he day dreams of being a mermaid. It’s a clever, layered book with lots to look at. Every time we read it I discover a something new. I don’t want to give too much a way – but there’s more than just mermaids in this book!

This is one of a series of books Caryl has written. The illustrations are vibrant and fun and the story takes you on a wild adventure introducing you to all of the different oceans and animals that live in them. If your child is just starting to take an interest in our oceans this is a great introductory book.

I wonder if I’ll see a whale by Frances Ward Weller

This is my childhood favourite and still makes me tingle with wonder when I read it. A beautifully illustrated story of a young girl looking for whales out at sea.
