“But I Don’t Have Kids” – and other reasons use to not buy from us

When I’m at an event with my stall, I’m always intrigued by the responses visitors give to my work. My favourites are when people walk by, stop and look at my work, and a smile spreads across their face. Knowing that just for a moment I’ve brought joy to somebody makes my heart sing.

Yet, there are many who come with the best of intentions and sigh with various reasons why they can’t buy from me. I hear the following all the time:

“I don’t have any kids.”

“My kids are too old for this.”

“I’m too old for this kind of thing.”

But here’s what I want you to know: you’ve missed the point entirely.

Curious Kin isn’t just about children—it’s about celebrating curious families. That includes parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends, and yes, even you.

You know that person who loves walking barefoot in the grass? The one who can’t resist diving into the ocean? The traveller who gets excited about exploring new places? What about the rock-flipper—the person who’s obsessed with turning over every log and stone to see what’s underneath? (And don’t even get me started on the ones who stop mid-hike to examine every bit of fungus and lichen they spot!)

These people are your curious kin.

So here’s my challenge to you: dive in with them. Rediscover what sparked your curiosity as a child. What did you love to do before it got squashed because it was “too messy” or there “wasn’t enough time” or you had to “sit still and behave”?

It’s time to reignite that spark in you.

Rediscover your curiosity about this beautiful world. Reconnect with wonder. There are still so many amazing things waiting to be discovered—and curiosity doesn’t have an expiration date.

If you are ready, browse our collection—not for “the kids,” but for the curious family you already are.
